When you encounter an unwelcome critter, it’s good to know who to call! Pest control and animal control both serve to help remove or relocate an unwanted “guest,” but they have different functions. Let’s take a look at the difference between the two and who to call for what type of help.
Animal Control
Animal control services are often for more urgent situations where an animal is on your property or in your home. You might see a bear or stray dog in your yard, or you may find a raccoon or opossum in your garage or attic. When you contact animal control, they will safely remove the animal from the site and take it to an appropriate location, such as a wildlife rehabilitation center or animal shelter. You would also call animal control for problems with squirrels, foxes, skunks, or snakes.
Pest Control
Pest control services involve prevention and maintenance to keep insects, rodents, and spiders out of your home. Typically, pest control will destroy the population of pests in your home and help your family take the appropriate measures to prevent them from entering and/or breeding again. You’d normally call pest control for ants, roaches, wasps, bedbugs, or other insect infestations. You can also call pest control for help with mice or rats.
